Nature, Adventure and Beautiful Walks
Hannah few up in North Wales, leaving at 18 to go to University. She visits often, really appreciating the outdoors and the spectacular views.
What have been your favourite things about living in North Wales?
It has to be the nature and the outdoors. The mountains and sea offer beautiful places to explore. Snowdonia (the national park) has so many mountains, lakes and rivers to see. I love going for a hike, relaxing by a lake or just taking in the views. It is a really beautiful place.
What is the area most known for?
The area is known for beautiful Snowdonia, the mountains and sea, and its link to history with the many castles across North Wales (such as Conwy, Caernarfon and Harlech). North Wales is also known for its Welsh slate - mining was a key industry in the area for many years.
What are the adventure activities like?
There are so many new (and some not so new) adventure activities locally! The World’s fastest zipwire for the adrenaline seekers is just one example. There’s also a ‘forest coaster’ which takes you speeding through the trees. Then there are the vast caves, traditionally used for mining, but now home to new activities, whether it be the trampolines or “Go Below” where you can traverse, abseil, climb and zipwire through underground caves! For the water lovers there are plenty of water sports, including kayaking, white water rafting and river tubing.
Tell us a little bit about Conwy, where we run one of our courses, what’s it like?
As a medieval town, Conwy is a very popular tourist destination and visitors come from all over the world. They visit to learn more about the history, to explore the castle and walk around the town walls. There are a number of tearooms, family bakeries and a well-known shop called ‘Edwards’ which is very famous for its sausages. It’s also a lovely place to go walking. There are some gorgeous views of the sea from the Marina and Conwy mountain is a beautiful place with wild ponies offering views of Anglesey.
